Basuki Refuses to Pay Off Rusty TransJakarta Buses Purchasing Bills

Jakarta Provincial Government stressed that will never pay off the remaining bills of rusty and broken TransJakarta buses bought from China in 2013. This is because there is no regulatory basis requiring city government to settle the payment of 531 buses procurement.

If the items were not qualified and the time has passed, it means that the goods cannot be accepted. On what basis we accept

“If the items were not qualified and the time has passed, it means that the goods cannot be accepted. On what basis we accept it?” said Jakarta Vice Governor Basuki T Purnama at City Hall, Thursday (5/22).

Besides, Basuki continued, former Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Udar Pristono, has admitted that the buses branded ‘Ankai’ were only consignment from the vendors. That is why Jakarta Provincial Government refers to the regulation which has not been bound in the purchase agreement of hundreds of Ankai buses.

Basuki: Don’t Politicize Rusty Bus Case!

“He (Pristono) claimed has not received the buses, those are only consignment. The matter will be different if the bus has been received, there is guarantee,” uttered Basuki.

Meanwhile, Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, Muhammad Akbar, explained that the 531 TransJakarta buses made in China are not yet handed over to Jakarta Provincial Government until now.

“Jakarta Provincial Government only paid about 20 percent of the total procurement value that reaches Rp 1.5 trillion. We don’t know when the buses would be handed over,” he stated.
